“I settled on the title simply because over the many years that I have been writing songs and making records, music journalists have attempted to categorise the genre of my creations ever since ‘In The Summertime’ stormed the charts. In my opinion the general public… have no interest in analysing the recordings, they simply and honestly say
that they either like them, or do not like them. This is how I grew up with music…As far as I am concerned, no genre is ‘out of bounds.’”

“Undefinable” is a rich and varied collection that reflects this philosophy. The album moves effortlessly across styles, from blues-infused storytelling and reflective ballads to upbeat, feel-good tracks. Songs such as “Born To Sing The Blues” showcase Dorset’s deep-rooted musical influences, while tracks like “Stand Up” and “Keep On Rockin’” carry messages of resilience and individuality. Meanwhile, lighter moments such as “Always Time For Coffee” bring warmth and humour.
